The music of Laura Veirs is spare and beautiful, as is the Colorado landscape she hails from.  Her slightly unkempt, yet pretty, voice rides over an alt-folk styling that is pure, distilled Americana.  If you like grrl rock with an unflinching poetic sensibility, you'll dig Laura Veirs.  She could be reminiscent of Aimee Mann, but with less of the dark edginess that makes Mann's sound what it is.  Veirs leaves that stuff behind in favor of a more delicate melodic architecture and sheer earnestness in her lyrics.
