This Atlanta-based rock band has become, since its 2002 inception, an internationally renowned group.  Besides performing all over the US, the Black Lips have successfully maneuvered a premature escape from putative, punitive measures in India.  Despite being featured in Spin and Rolling Stone, and appearing on the Conan O’Brien show, the band maintains it’s unique post-millennium sound.  While it’s hard to pin the Black Lips to a particular genre, you can find elements of punk, country, and blues (plus traces of 1950’s Bandstand) in their music.  Bandmates Cole, Jared, Joe, and Ian disguise topical and almost nihilistic lyrics with hypnotically haunting guitar melodies.  As a live act, the Black Lips promise to treat fans to their onstage antics and musical electricity that will keep you moshing, or at least smiling.
